Quilting
QUILTING USING HST
No, we are not going to tell you how to deal with the government’s HST (harmonized sales tax). This HST is so much more fun!
Half Square Triangles (HST) are easy to create once you know the process. They form the building blocks to a large assortment of quilting patterns. You can even make the HST’s and then decide how to put them together. The possibilities are endless!
This online series of 8 weekly lessons assumes you have no experience in quilting and will lead you through the entire process and tickle your creativity with an assortment of ideas on how you can design your own lap quilt. If you have experience in sewing you might end up making enough HSTs for a larger quilt.
Plan on spending 2 hours each lesson, but you can get away with
as little as a half hour and then make the items later.
You need your own sewing machine, thread etc. It helps to have a quilting ruler for cutting as well as a self-healing board on which to cut your fabric. Our ancestors didn’t have any of these and still made wonderful quilts so it is possible to hand sew and hand cut but that takes a lot more time. You can supply your own materials or we can put together a package of fabric that will carry you through the creation of a quilt top. There will be an additional charge for this service.
Along with the quilting instruction we will take a look at quilting in our culture (history, music etc.)
Come and have some fun with us! The cost is $20 for members and $40 for non-members.
