About the event
Della Rice-Sylvester is a respected Cowichan Tribes Elder Medicine Woman and ethnobotanist based in Duncan and known for her expertise in traditional indigenous plant medicine and healing arts. Trained by her grandmothers from age five, she offers workshops on plant identification, medicine making and traditional cultural protocols. Indigenous healing salves are made by infusing medicinal plants into a carrier fat or oil, then thickening it with beeswax. Learn to make your own healing salves; take home a jar that was made during this class. This practice combines traditional ethnobotanical knowledge with basic apothecary techniques to treat wounds, skin irritation, and muscle aches. All materials are supplied by Della. Students should bring:Comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty in, Water and a snack.
