Slab Pottery with Rosemary Danaher

Note - This is a 3 day course, and a 4th day which will be to pick up your finished piece. They are: September 19th, 20th (for making your art) and November 15th (for the glazing) and 29th (for pickup). All classes are 10am-2pm.

This course is both for introductory and intermediate pottery students and is one of the basic hand building techniques. Students will learn how to make a slab “mold” using Styrofoam, and will use their completed form to make one of their plates. This is a versatile and easy way to make plates, along with found “thrift store” plate shapes from either your collection or mine. We will also make a slab vase, a paper towel caddie or candle holder and students will have the opportunity to try carving into it, either for decoration, the opening for the paper towels or for light for the candle.
